Jessica L. Basso, ESQ.
My philosophy is simple: I work with my clients, and for my clients, to ensure the best possible results.
Since 1998, I have dedicated my career to seeking justice for those who have been injured by the negligence of others. In that quest for justice, I have recovered more than $20 million in compensation for my injured clients and their families.
My hands-on approach with my clients and their cases distinguishes my firm, and the quality of my firm’s representation, from the high volume, “big box” firms. I have extensive trial experience before all courts in the State of Rhode Island, which means that I am not afraid to fight for my client to the end.
There is no fee for my services without a recovery, and initial consultations are always free. In turn, I understand the rigors of my clients’ day to day lives, so I am sure to be available for weekend and evening appointments.
I was born and raised in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the youngest of four kids to two hard-working parents. I graduated from Prout Memorial High School For Girls in 1989 – proud to be a member of its last “all girl” class. I then graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature. I knew back then that I wanted to be a “lawyer”, without really knowing what that meant. I just knew I wanted a trade that would allow me to help people. I was fortunate to pursue my law degree at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. I received my Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 1997 with a Certificate in Health Law.
During law school, I interned at a small firm, which gave me a taste of personal injury practice. I loved every aspect, not the least of which was helping people in the community – in my community – receive redress for wrongs done to them.
Upon returning home to start my career, I figured that the best offense was a good defense. I gained valuable insight and experience during time spent as a litigation associate in the Rhode Island office of a Boston-based insurance defense firm. From there, I moved on to Plaintiff’s personal injury litigation in a small firm setting, and I have not looked back.
In the past twenty years, I have represented folks from all walks of life with all different types of claims for damages – damages caused by motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall injuries, bicycle accidents, defective products and dog bites. I work with my clients directly, during each phase of their case – from inception through trial. I am methodical, persistent, and informed, which allows me to recover best results for my clients. I am proud to admit that, over the decades, many of my clients have become my friends, and some like family.
In addition to my personal injury practice, I also represent individuals with land use matters and probate issues.
Finally, I am proud to be a court-approved arbitrator, mediator, and guardian ad litem.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, cooking, kickboxing, and cheering on the Patriots.
